How We Started
In 2008, Sawtelle Tree Service started as a hobby for Charles Sawtelle after his honorable active duty service in the United States Marine Corps. Adjusting to civilian life after active military service and overseas deployments can be a true financial burden and cultural shock. With a newborn son and wife to care for, Charles had to do something to help make ends meet. Possessing a chainsaw skillset passed down from his earlier days of cutting firewood, he started to practice and study the unique set of skills required to be an aspiring arborist.
Charles, still focused on taking care of his family, enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve as Sawtelle Tree Service continued to grow into a full time opportunity. He remained patient for his dream to develop. As fate would have it, in 2013, Sawtelle Tree Service officially became an LLC. In 2014, after 12 years of honorable service, Charles decided it was time to take on the company full time. Through self-discipline, determination, and lots of sacrifice, Charles has realized his dream and made Sawtelle Tree Service LLC the professional tree care business it is today.
Charles Sawtelle, Owner/Arborist
Everything I do in this life is for the betterment of my family. I want my children to know the value of hard work, dedication and commitment. I want them to continue pushing on through trials and hardships and to remain steadfast and patient.
Tree care/logging is widely accepted as the 2nd most dangerous job in the U.S. as well as one of the deadliest in the world. This is a risk that I am willing to take in order to perform and perfect the arboricultural path that I have chosen…a path that I firmly believe chose me.
